I’ve been thinking a lot about affordability lately, especially when it comes to housing. Rents in my city have gone up so much in the past two years. I looked at a few apartments online today, and honestly, most of them are way out of my budget. It made me realize how hard it is for young people to find a decent place to live without spending more than half their paycheck. I ended up calling my friend Jisoo, who is going through the same struggle. We agreed that affordability has become one of the biggest concerns for people our age. Hopefully things will get better, but for now we’re just trying to be smart with our money.

요즘 특히 주거 문제와 관련해서 감당 가능한 가격, 즉 ‘어포더빌리티’에 대해 많이 생각하고 있다. 내가 사는 도시의 월세가 지난 2년 사이에 너무 많이 올랐다. 오늘 온라인으로 아파트 몇 군데를 찾아봤는데, 솔직히 대부분이 내 예산을 훨씬 초과했다. 월급의 절반 이상을 쓰지 않고는 젊은 사람들이 괜찮은 집을 구하기가 얼마나 어려운지 새삼 느꼈다. 결국 같은 고민을 하고 있는 친구 지수에게 전화를 걸었다. 우리는 ‘어포더빌리티’가 우리 또래에게 가장 큰 걱정거리 중 하나가 됐다는 데 동의했다. 상황이 나아지길 바라지만, 지금은 그냥 돈을 현명하게 쓰려고 노력 중이다.
